About three weeks or so ago we kicked off a campaign to build local awareness of our plan to raise all-important start-up finance using a community share issue. We asked people to give a pledge and specify an amount that they would invest once the share issue went live.
It’s fair to say that we’ve been astonished – and hugely heartened – by the response we’ve had already. As I write this post we have 64 people signed up in support, pledging a total of £51,600. Given the modest scale of our camping so far, and how much more we have yet to do to reach out to our community, this is incredible.
To see such strong support in such a short space of time has given every one of us who is working on the project a massive boost, and enabled us to forge ahead with our plans with renewed confidence, not only that what we are doing is the right thing, but that it has such clear support from the local community.
So we’d like to say a big thank-you to everyone that has responded so far. Your support is pivotal.
We are continuing to work with the team at the Community Shares Unit who are helping us to refine our business plan and our community share offer document. Their expertise is hugely helpful and we’re grateful for their active support.
If everything goes to plan we’ll have more news soon about our launch date and how you can get involved. In the meantime, if you’ve not seen this short video yet featuring one of our board members Sue Richards (she’s our “Nominated Individual”) you can watch it here:
